Tyres on South Parks Allotment

Dear Members: Tyres Notice.

As you may or may not know, our lease is due to be renewed this year regarding our allotment, – South Parks. It has come to the attention of the committee and our guidance from the National Allotments that tyres can no longer be taken to our Allotment Site. Our lease states in ‘Clause 24. not to deposit any non-biodegradable items on the Land.’ Tyres are classified as non-biodegradable. National Allotments advise against their use as they can break down over time and leech harmful chemicals into the soil.

We will write this into our rules as our lease takes precedence. It is also very costly to remove and dispose, if a member leaves them when they vacate and in turn stretch our resources on an already tight budget.

For Members with tyres, we ask you to please remove them from the allotment site at your earliest convenience. We expect them to be off site by 1st August 2023.
